A POPULAR folk musician will perform at Stocksfield Community Centre on Friday, May 20.
Dan Walsh will tour the UK following the release of a live album last year, recorded in January 2020 in a hometown gig in Stafford.
BBC Folk Awards 'Best Musician of the Year' nominee Dan Walsh combines "virtuoso playing and winning songwriting", the Morning Star said.
Before the pandemic, Dan was one of the most in demand performers on the folk scene with a busy touring schedule throughout the UK, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and across Europe. Dan is also a member of the band Urban Folk Quartet.
Combining British, Irish and American folk music, Dan delivers music with his unique take on clawhammer style banjo, challenging all preconceptions about the instrument.
Bruce MacGregor of BBC Radio Scotland said: "One of the most incredible musicians I've heard in years."
Dan will be joined by acclaimed guitarist and songwriter, Brooks Williams, at the Stocksfield venue and at his Glasgow performance.
"If one name is synonymous with the revival of interest in the banjo, it's Dan Walsh," Living Tradition, an online folk music publication, said.
Add poignant songs, astonishing musical departures and lively humour, the result is a memorable live show performed to audiences across the world, from intimate seated rooms to huge dancing crowds in festival fields.
