THE A69 is closed in both directions due to a lorry fire.
Crews from Hexham, Ponteland and Prudhoe along with three crews from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service are dealing with the incident, which is between the A6085 Ponteland Road (Throckley Interchange, Throckley) and B6528 (Oatens Bank junction, Horsley).
Diversions are in place.

A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: “Shortly after 8.15am today (Friday) we received a report that a lorry carrying hay bales was on fire on the A69 near Heddon-on-the-Wall.
“Emergency services are at the scene. The road has been fully closed as fire crews tackle the blaze and diversions are currently in place.
“Motorists are advised there will be increased congestion in the area.”
