POLICE and fire crews were called to the A69 on Tuesday morning after a lorry caught fire.
Two fire appliances from Hexham Fire Station were called to the scene, on the westbound carriageway between Corbridge and the Bridge End Roundabout, just after 6.15am.
Northumberland Fire and Rescue Service said it had been an accidental fire in an articulated lorry, and Northumbria Police confirmed that nobody was believed to have been injured.
Work to clear the road continued into the morning causing some heavy traffic on the A69, and police said diversions were put in place.
