A PAIR of Ponteland students have been rewarded for their artistic efforts in the name of peace.
The annual peace poster contest saw youngsters from two Ponteland middle schools using their pens and pencils to get creative in support of a good cause.
The competition, run by Ponteland Lions Club, was open to year seven and year eight students at Richard Coates Middle School and Ponteland Community Middle School.
This year, the contest had the theme Share Peace.
The winner from Richard Coates Middle School was 11-year-old Aaron Finlay with his colourful poster featuring flags from around the world.
Ponteland Community Middle School’s winner was Elizabeth Quigley (12) with her intricate drawing of two children holding hands on top of the world.
The top three entries from each school were presented with prizes by Ponteland Lions president Nick Jackson.
All the posters entered into the competition are on display in the schools.
