NEWTON’S Mowden Hall School achieved notable success at the prestigious Rawthey Run at Sedbergh School.
Mowden had only one runner in the U13 girls’ race, but that was more than enough.
Alice Cheesbrough, from Heddon on the Wall, dominated the race throughout to win fairly comfortably over a hilly 1.5 mile cross-country course.
In the U11 boys’ race Mowden provided seven of the 96 runners.
Max Phillips, from Humshaugh, ran well to finish second, with Hector Swinburne 21st, Harry Remnant 35th, Lauri Mennala 42nd, Henry McAlpine 56th, Patrick Kirkup 58th and Archie McAlpine 66th.
The team finished fourth out of 15.
