BATY-HODGSON

James Baty- Gayle Hodgson.
CHILDREN from the Little Badgers Nursery at Haydon Bridge had a special outing last month.
They went to St Peter’s Church at Newbrough to greet nursery owner and manager Gayle Hodgson following her wedding to Stocksfield farmer James Baty.
The bridegroom, the son of Robin and Caroline Baty, of North Acomb Farm, attended Hexham’s Queen Elizabeth High School and Reaseheath Agricultural College in Cheshire. He now works on the family farm.
The bride is the daughter of Ralph and Muriel Hodgson, of Hindshield House, Haydon Bridge.
She studied at Haydon Bridge High School and Northumbria University.
Given in marriage by her father, she wore a duchess satin gown featuring a sweetheart neckline, with fluted A-line skirt and chapel train.
The outfit was set off with a satin ribbon tied round the waist, and the entire hem was embellished with a border of French Alencon lace.
She had a matching cathedral-length veil and her teardrop bouquet comprised pink calla lilies, pink and ivory roses and ivory Singapore orchids.
The bridesmaids were the bride’s sister, Jayne Hodgson, and her nieces, Faye Nicholson and Charlotte Hodgson.
Jayne and Charlotte wore gowns of cerise taffeta with chapel trains, while Faye wore a sleeveless ivory dress with cerise buttons and a bow at the back, with crystals around the neckline.
All three carried smaller versions of the bride’s bouquet.
The bridegroom’s nephew, Scott Nicholson, was pageboy.
The best man was the bridegroom’s friend Mark Clark and the groomsmen were the bridegroom’s brothers Cameron, Tim and Alexander Baty along with the bride’s brother Graeme Hodgson.
The bride entered the church to the Wedding Fanfare by Arthur Bliss and the couple left to Purcell’s Trumpet Voluntary.
During the service, which was conducted by the Rev. Jeremy Thompson, the hymns Praise my soul the king of heaven, One more step along the world I go, and Hills of the North rejoice were sung, accompanied at the organ by Shirley Nixon.
Readings were given by the bride’s friend Gemma Bolton, who recited the 23rd Psalm, and the bridegroom’s brother Cameron Baty, who read the poem My Brother.
Following the reception at the Otterburn Tower Hotel, the couple left for their honeymoon in Mexico.
