HENDERSON-STONEHOUSE

FOLLOWING the wedding of Derek Henderson and Catherine Stonehouse in the idyllic setting of Holy Island, the bridegroom had one last surprise for his new wife.
For he has booked a honeymoon to Rome, followed by a cruise around the Mediterranean for later on in the year.
The couple tied the knot at the island’s Lindisfarne Castle on July 9.
The bridegroom, from Low Struthers, Allendale, is the son of the late Eddie and Molly Henderson, who previously farmed at Burn Tongues, Allendale.
A former pupil at Haydon Bridge High School, he now works as a farmer, and enjoys golf and supporting Newcastle United.
The bride, from Wylam, is the daughter of the late Will and Libby Stonehouse, who were farmers at Westwood Farm, Wylam.
She formerly attended Westfield School in Gosforth, Newcastle, and currently works as a trust fund-raiser.
In her spare time, the bride enjoys showing terriers, and attending farming and other country events. She keeps retired horses, and used to compete in equestrian events, including showjumping and racing.
The bride designed and made her gold brocade wedding gown.
She was given away by her brother, Michael Stonehouse, and carried a bouquet of sunflowers and roses.
The bridegroom’s daughter Melanie Henderson was a bridesmaid, along with the bride’s goddaughters Stephanie Dunn and Amy Waugh, her cousin Pip Waugh, and friends Bridget Stuart and Ginni Wright.
The bridesmaids were dressed in differently designed ivory dresses of their own choice, and held bouquets of roses, carnations and gypsophela.
Best man was the bridegroom's friend Frank Johnson, and the usher was the bridegroom's son, David Henderson.
The bride’s cousin, Angie Howie, read the poem To Derek from Catherine during the wedding service.
The Northumbrian pipes and fiddle were played by Andrew and Margaret Watchorn.
A reception took place at The Barn At Beal, in Berwick upon Tweed, with music by singer and guitarist Chloe Chadwick.
The couple spent their wedding night on Lindisfarne, before a marriage blessing the following day at St Aidan’s Church, Bamburgh, by the Rev. Canon Brian Hurst.
