BOWYER- BROWN Jonathan and Hazel

KILTS, a ceilidh and traditional music featured strongly in the wedding in the Scottish Highlands of Jonathan Bowyer and Hazel Brown.
The wedding took place at Killearman Parish Church at Redcastle in Ross and Cromarty.
The bridegroom, wearing a kilt of the McKay tartan from an ancestral line in his mother’s family, is the son of James and Rosemary Bowyer, of Causey Hill, Hexham.
He attended Dame Allan’s Boys’ School, in Newcastle, and the University of Dundee, where he is now a software engineer at the Dundee Satellite Receiving Station, part of the universitys space technology centre.
He is also president and founder member of Dundee Mountain Club, as well as being a keen skier.
The bride, who also lists mountaineering, skiing and sailing as her hobbies, is the daughter of Gordon and Margaret Brown, of North Kessock on Scotland’s Black Isle.
She was educated at Fortrose Academy and Robert Gordon University, in Aberdeen, and works as an occupational therapist with Angus Council,
Given away by her father, the bride wore a fishtail bridal dress with a cathedral length train in pale ivory, and carried loose hand-tied, white avalanche roses and other white flowers.
Her sisters Catherine and Sarah Brown were bridesmaids.
The bridegroom’s friend and mountaineering companion Allan McCulloch was best man, while the bridegroom’s brother Alexander Bowyer, who now lives in Canada, was usher.
Both wore the kilt for the ceremony.
The bride’s sister Sarah Brown played the fiddle during the signing of the register.
The bride entered to The Prince of Denmark’s March by Jeremiah Clarke, while the hymns Morning has Broken, Make Me a Channel of Your Peace and One More Step Along the World I Go were sung. The recessional song was Hornpipe in D from the Water Music by Handel.
A wedding reception with an evening ceilidh and traditional music was held at Bunchrew House Hotel on the Beauly Firth and the couple honeymooned in the Maldives.
