A HONEYMOON in Italy followed the wedding of Alexander Baty and Karen Lowdon.
The couple tied the knot at St Peter’s Church, Bywell, in a service led by the Rev. William Rigby.
The bridegroom is the son of Robin and Caroline Baty, of North Acomb Farm, Stocksfield.
He attended Hexham’s Queen Elizabeth High School, and the University of Sheffield.
He now works as an aerospace design engineer at CAV Aerospace, in Consett, County Durham.
The bride is the daughter of John and Margaret Lowdon, of Oakwood, Hexham.
She also previously attended Queen Elizabeth High School and the University of Sheffield, and now works as a mitochondrial diagnostic technician at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary.
The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a raw silk ivory strapless gown, with a sweetheart neckline, A-line skirt, a semi-cathedral train, and beaded appliques on the body. The dress was complemented by an ivory veil.
She carried a hand-tied bouquet of ivory avalanche roses, freesias, astrantia, love-in-the-mist, viburnum, and sweet peas.
The bride’s sister-in-law, Alyson Lowdon, was maid of honour.
Nichola Hogg, a friend of the bride, was bridesmaid, along with Helen Sewell, a friend of the bride since university.
Millie Lowdon, aged four, was a flower girl.
Best man was Richard Lognonne, the bridegroom’s friend.
Ushers were the bridegroom’s older brothers, Cameron Baty, Tim Baty, and James Baty. The bridegroom’s friends Philip Cawthorn and Steven Coates were also ushers.
The congregation sung the hymns Come To a Wedding, Love Divine and All Excelling, and Give Me Joy In My Heart.
The church was decorated by the bridegroom’s family, and friends Wyn Alderscade and Jean Gibbon, with ivory roses, freesias, gladioli, carnations, and anthuriums.
A reception took place at Matfen Hall Hotel, before the couple enjoyed a honeymoon in Rome and Sorrento.
