JULIET PORT AND ANDRES CORIA

The Argentinian Andes provided the stunning backdrop for the wedding of Juliet Genevieve Port and Andres Eduardo Coria.
The bride – the daughter of Gordon and Cecilia Port, of Stocksfield – met her husband-to-be while working as a mission and youth worker for Latin Link in Argentina.
The couple were married at La Iglesia Christiana Evangelica in San Salvador de Jujuy, Argentina’s most northerly city, in a ceremony conducted by state registrar Silvia Casimiro.
This was immediately followed by a religious ceremony conducted by church elders, the bridegroom’s father Carlos Coria and family friend Abel Altare.
For the benefit of the bride’s English guests Priscilla Breekveldt translated the service from Spanish into English.
A former pupil of Prudhoe Community High School, the bride attended the University of Liverpool and is an English language tutor.
In her free time she enjoys walking, baking and working as a volunteer at the Toxteth Women’s Centre in Liverpool.
The bridegroom is the son of Carlos Coria and Leticia De Coria, of San Salvador de Jujuy.
A Spanish teacher, he attended Nacional 1 College in Jujuy and the University of San Salvador de Jujuy.
He enjoys playing football, supports football club Boca Juniors of Buenos Aires and sings – he even sang his wedding vows.
Given away by her father, the bride wore a dress of cream chiffon over satin that had been designed by her friend, Nghia Ton, of Liverpool. Featuring decorative beading and a full-length train, it was complemented by a headdress of handmade silk flowers which held her veil in place.
She carried a bouquet of handmade cream and white silk flowers, made by the bridegroom’s mother.
Bridesmaids were the bride’s younger sisters Rosalind and Catriona Port, while the bridegroom’s nephew and niece acted as ring bearers.
The bridesmaids wore fitted bodices with flared tea-length skirts in dark brown chiffon over satin, and matching lace shrugs.
They carried bouquets of handmade cream and scarlet silk flowers, and wore scarlet flowers in their hair.
Witnesses were Daniel Maita and Carina Zuleta.
The church was decorated by friends and family in greenery and silk flowers which had also been made by the bridegroom’s mother.
And during the service the hymns included How great thou art, My Jesus, my saviour and Great is thy faithfulness, accompanied on the organ by Jorge “Daddy” Ramirez.
The bridegroom’s mother also sang Let God be between you.
About 200 guests attended the reception, which was held in the church hall where friends helped prepare over 1,000 traditional Argentine sweet pastries.
This was followed by a smaller family party at the bridegroom’s family home.
The couple spent their honeymoon in Buenos Aires before returning to their home in Liverpool where they will celebrate their marriage with a blessing on Saturday.
This will be held at Bridge Chapel in the city, during which Emilio Martinez, of San Salvador de Jujuy will act as best man, and the bride will also be attended by friends Helen Furniss, of Mickley, and Rebekah Moll, of London.
