Colin Herron – Gillian Brown

Colin Herron – Gillian Brown
A RED, white and blue theme was chosen for the wedding of Colin Herron and Gillian Brown in recognition of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee and 2012 Olympics.
The couple, who are from Bellingham and Stanhope respectively, held their ceremony at Stanhope Methodist Chapel on August 18, followed by a reception at Stanhope Masonic Hall and a honeymoon in Ireland.
The bridegroom is the son of Marie Herron, of Bellingham, and the late William Herron.
He went to Haydon Bridge High School and is now a plumbing and heating manager at Matthew Charlton’s.
In his leisure time, he enjoys meeting up with friends, walking and DIY.
The bride, a former accountant, and now a housewife, is the daughter of Tom and Jean Brown, of Stanhope.
She studied at Wolsingham Comprehensive School, followed by Leeds Metropolitan University and enjoys meeting up with friends, pilates, swimming and walking in her leisure time.
On her wedding day, she wore a satin A-line bridal gown with crystals and an antique-coloured veil with a silver and ruby tiara.
She carried a bouquet made up of ivory flowers, with a touch of blue and red.
The bridesmaids on the day were Hannah and Sophie Button, the bride’s cousin’s daughters, and Rachel and Harriet Evans, the bride’s goddaughters.
All wore red satin A-line dresses with waist-line flower details and carried hand-tied posies in ivory with a touch of red and blue.
The best man was the bridegroom’s brother, John Herron.
For the ceremony, in which the bride was given away by her father, the church was decorated in flowers to match the bouquet and posies. Music included the hymns Love Divine and Give Me Joy in My Heart.
The couple received several horseshoes as lucky tokens from the children in attendance.
