Marriage

Thomas Lloyd - Jessica Grinsted

KEEN cyclists Thomas Lloyd and Jessica Grinsted began their married life on the back of a bicycle rickshaw.
The novel mode of transport was used by the bride’s father, Tim Grinsted, to get the bride to the church on time for the wedding at St Peter’s Church, Bywell.
After the ceremony, the couple were pedalled to the reception by the best man, the bridegroom’s brother Mark Lloyd.
The bride is the elder daughter of Tim and Caroline Grinsted of Stocksfield. She was educated at Prudhoe High School and Leeds University and is now an early years’ teacher.
The bridegroom is the younger son of Pete and Christine Lloyd of Hallbankgate. Educated at William Howard High School in Brampton, and Northumbria University, he now runs a web development company.
The bride wore a full length ivory dress intricately decorated with beads, from the Oxfam bridal shop in York, and carried a bunch of sweet peas from the garden.
Her sister Anna was bridesmaid and wore a calf-length dress of burgundy cotton.
Buttonholes for the men were made by the bride’s grandmother and both bride and bridesmaid wore sweet peas in their hair.
The bride’s two brothers, Simon and Peter, were ushers and the bridegroom’s young cousins Daniel and Josie Hardman were page boy and flower girl.
The church was decorated by the bride’s mother and friend with flowers from the garden.
The service was conducted by the Rev. Bill Rigby.
The reception was held at the bride’s family home, and three wedding cakes were made and decorated by the bride’s mother.
Guests sat on picnic rugs over hay bales in the garden enjoying some rare summer sun, or in the marquee decorated with bunting and bicycle wheel chandeliers made by the groom’s aunt.
Great fun was had at a ceilidh with the band Northern Lights followed by a disco into the small hours.
The couple set off for the Scottish Borders to a gypsy caravan for their honeymoon.
