PRUDHOE couple Billy Maitland and Rachael Hall have tied the knot at Dissington Hall, Ponteland.

The bridegroom is the son of Gary Holmes and Marie Maitland, of Ryton. An electrical engineer, he attended Ryton High School and Newcastle College and enjoys playing rugby in his free time.

The bride is the daughter of Billy and Shirley Hall, of New Ridley. She was educated at Hexham’s Queen Elizabeth High School and Newcastle College.

Given away by her father, she wore an ivory dress with vintage beading, complemented by a circlet headpiece. Her bouquet contained purple calla lilies.

She was attended by her school friend Nicola Eustace and a friend from South Africa, Carly de Jong, who wore deep purple dresses and carried posies of white calla lilies.

Ben Maitland, the bridegroom’s brother, was best man.

The wedding was conducted by registrar Kim Brooks and the venue was decorated by Slaley resident Gwen Foster, a friend of the bride. Music included Etta James’ song At Last.

The couple spent their honeymoon in Havana, Cuba.
