JOHNSON - FURLONG Stuart -Rachel

TYNEDALE Rugby Club first XV forward Stuart Johnson had his match of the day when he married occupational therapist Rachel Furlong at St Cuthbert’s Church, Beltingham.
The bridegroom, the son of Richard and Rosi Johnson of West Wharmley Farm, Hexham, attended Haydon Bridge High School and Northumbria University, and works on the family farm.
The bride, the daughter of Frank and Fiona Furlong, of Bardon Mill also studied at Haydon Bridge and Northumbria, and works at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Gateshead.
Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a strapless ivory and champagne dress with a soft lace and silk chiffon sheath, decorated with Swarovski crystals, and with a scalloped hemline.
She carried a teardrop bouquet of pink peonies and roses, made by family friend Yvonne Hall.
She was attended by six bridesmaids – her sister Rebecca Furlong, and schoolfriends Ebony Newton, Rebecca Dauwe, Alice Jeffs, Nadine Reed and Sharon Sharman.
They all wore dusky pink full-length chiffon dresses, and carried bouquets of pink peonies, hydrangeas and roses.
Sharing the duties of best man were Adam Walker and Colin Murphy, friends of the bridegroom since childhood.
The groomsmen were the bridegroom’s brother James Johnson – who also acted as master of ceremonies – and schoolfriends Neil Reed, Jonny Philp and Richard Hall.
The ceremony, which was conducted by the Rev. Judith Hampson, included the hymns One More Step Along the World I go, and He’s Got the Whole World in His Hands .
The bride entered the church to Glasgow Love Theme from the film Love Actually, and the couple left to an acoustic version of I’m a Believer
Following the reception at the High House Farm Brewery at Matfen, the couple left for a honeymoon which took in Iceland, New York, Orlando and Jamaica.
