ROWELL - COLQUHOUN
A pair of childhood sweethearts, who first met when they were just three years old, have tied the knot on a cliff top in a humanist ceremony.
Dr Nick Rowell and Annabelle Colquhoun were friends as toddlers at playgroup and met through the years via mutual friends before attending the same university.
The bridegroom, the son of Peter and Helen Rowell of Stirling, studied at Stirling and Edinburgh universities and now works as an astrophysics researcher in Dundee.
His hobbies include hill walking, guitar, whisky, cooking and fishing.
The bride, a former QEHS student, is the daughter of Ian and Anna Colquhoun of Town Farm, Corbridge.
She studied at both Glasgow and Edinburgh universities and now works as a speech and language therapist
She also enjoys hill walking, singing, cooking and reading.
Given away by her father, the bride wore a royal blue 1950s style halter neck dress with purple and magenta petticoats.
She carried wild flowers and flowers from her parents’ garden in Corbridge.
Friends Rachel Sage and Lucy Miller (nee Ferraday) and sister-in-law to be Barbara Duncan were her helpers for the day.
They wore dresses of their own choice and also carried wild flowers and flowers from the bride’s parents’ garden.
The bridegroom’s brother, William Rowell, and cousin, Jonathon Hardman, were the best men.
The ceremony, held on September 14 at Ravensheugh cliff top in Berwick upon Tweed, was conducted by humanist minister Ivan Middleton and featured personal vows and poems.
An open-air reception, with drinks and a hog roast, was held on the cliff top which was decorated with flowers in wellington boots and baskets.
The happy couple honeymooned in Portugal, walking between vineyards.
