NIXON - FAIRBANK
Daniel John Nixon - Claire Hayley Fairbank
A COUPLE, who have both previously been chairman of Northumberland County Young Farmers’ Club, tied the knot at St Helen’s Church in Whitley Chapel.
Daniel John Nixon and Claire Hayley Fairbank were married in a service led by the Rev. Andrew Patterson.
The bridegroom, a former pupil at Queen Elizabeth High School in Hexham, is the son of Clive Nixon, of Low Lilswood Farm, Hexhamshire, and the late Gillian Nixon. He works on the family beef and sheep farm at Stotsfold.
The bride is the daughter of Jane Fairbank, of Halifax, West Yorkshire, and the late Francis Fairbank. She was educated at North Halifax Grammar School before studying politics and history at Newcastle University.
She now works in the safeguarding adults’ team at Newcastle City Council.
Wearing a one shoulder tulle with lace off-white dress with train and carrying a hand-tied bouquet of white, pink and lilac memory roses, peonies and wheat made by her aunt Jane Fairbank, the bride walked down the aisle with her mother.
The bride’s sister Laura Fairbank, and friends Sarah Hepple and Claire Humphries, were bridesmaids and all wore different styled full-length dresses in an African violet colour.
The bridegroom’s friend since first school, Lewis Short, was the best man, while the bridegroom’s brother Roger Nixon, and friends Chris Hodges, Peter Forster, Will Snailum and James Rastall were ushers.
The bride arrived at the church to Pachebel’s Canon in D, while hymns Abide with Me and Jerusalem were sung during the ceremony with the bridegroom’s grandmother Shirley Nixon playing the organ.
Readings were given by the bridegroom’s aunt Judith Yeoman and friends Laura Lewins and Kayleigh Scott.
A reception was held in a marquee on Whitley Chapel sports field, with flowers arranged by friends of the family Gayle Tailford and Yvonne Hall. More than 200 metres of bunting, sewn by the bride and her family, decorated the marquee.
Following the wedding, the couple spent three days in Bowness-on-Windermer e but will honeymoon in Vietnam and Cambodia at a later date.
