Marriage

Mark Gradwell – Janine Fay Newton

Mark Gradwell – Janine Fay Newton
The Southern Caribbean island of Aruba was the honeymoon choice for Mark Gradwell and Janine Fay Newton, following their wedding at St John Lee Church, Acomb.
The bridegroom is the son of Derek and Eyra Gradwell, of Orchard Avenue, Acomb. He attended Hexham’s Queen Elizabeth High School, and now works in highways maintenance on the A69 for Road Link. He is also the coach of Hexham Football Club’s under eights side.
The bride is the daughter of Judith Newton, of Orchard Avenue, Acomb, and also studied at QEHS. She works as a nanny.
Given in marriage by her brother, Karl Newton, she wore a fishtail/mermaid style gown with an exaggerated sweetheart neckline. The body of the dress was made from very fine slipper satin, with a heavily beaded and sequinned lace overlay, and a small train with lace detail all round the hem.
Her teardrop bouquet comprised white roses, white calla lilies, blue dendrobium, orchids and peacock feathers.

The bridesmaid was the bridegroom’s daughter Hannah Gradwell, who wore a full length turquoise chiffon dress with train and turquoise band, and carried a hand-tied posy of white roses, blue dendrobium orchids and peacock feathers. The best man was Colin Bainbridge, a friend of the bridegroom, while another friend, Craig Wilkins, was usher. The couple’s son Brodie Gradwell was pageboy, along with the bridegroom’s son Max Gradwell.
The bride walked into church on a gold sovereign also used by her mother and sisters, and the service, which included the hymns Lord of All Hopefulness and Give Me Joy in My Heart, was conducted by the Rev. Jeremy Thompson.
The reception was held at the Tynedale Function Suite in Hexham, with the Aruba honeymoon delayed until September.
