Marriage

Andrew Carr – Lindsay Elliott

Andrew Carr – Lindsay Elliott
A HONEYMOON in Japan followed the Hexham Abbey wedding of Andrew Carr and Lindsay Elliott.
The bridegroom is the son of Alistair and Maureen Carr, of Hexham. A former student of Queen Elizabeth High School in Hexham, he attended Northumbria University and is an IT specialist for the NHS.
The bride, the daughter of Tim and Helen Elliott, of Hexham, is also a former pupil of QEHS and studied at both Newcastle and Northumbria universities. She is a paediatric occupational therapist in Gateshead.
Given in marriage by her father, she wore an ivory satin dress with train featuring a double layer lace overlay, intricate ribbon detail, a sweetheart neckline and a beaded belt.
Her full-length veil was edged with fine satin ribbon and she carried a hand tied posy of antique roses in pale pink and white with veronica, sweet peas and eucalyptus.
She was attended by lifelong friend, Jenny Jeffes, who wore a pale lilac dress with a beaded belt and carried a posy similar to the bride’s bouquet.
The bridegroom’s brother, James Carr, was best man, while the bride’s brothers, Douglas and Angus Elliott, were ushers.
A Scottish piper played before and after the wedding and the bride entered the Abbey to Pachelbel’s Canon in D.
Other hymns and music included Love Divine and Lord of all hopefulness, accompanied by organist Michael Haynes.
The ceremony was conducted by Canon Frank Dexter and the Abbey’s team of florists organised the floral displays.
The Hexham Abbey choir sang Jesu joy of man’s desiring as the couple signed the register and the newlyweds left the church to Mendelssohn’s Wedding March, as the Abbey bells rang out.
The reception was held at Kirkley Hall in Ponteland and followed by an evening ceilidh and disco.
