Marriage

Stewart Weatherson – Stacey Newton

Bride Stacey Newton walked on a gold sovereign at her wedding to Stewart Weatherson.
The Bardon Mill couple were married at Acomb’s St John Lee Church, in a service led by the Rev. Jeremy Thompson.
The bride is the daughter of Judith Newton, of Acomb and the late Ernie Newton. A lab technician at Newcastle’s Royal Victoria Infirmary, she attended Hexham’s Queen Elizabeth High School and the University of Teesside.
The bridegroom is the son of Willie and Joyce Weatherson, of Edges Green Farm, Haltwhistle. A farmer, he is a former pupil of Haydon Bridge High School.
For the ceremony the bride wore an off-the-shoulder gown with short sleeves and an A-line skirt with lace appliques that fell into a long train with scalloped hem.
Her short veil also featured lace appliques and gypsophila was woven into her hair, while her hand-tied bouquet contained two-tone pink roses and lilac roses.
The bride’s twin sister, Vikki Mark, was matron of honour and her friends Rachel Storey, Katie Khudarieh and Danielle Moore were bridesmaids.
They wore asymmetric chiffon dresses and carried smaller versions of the bride’s bouquet.
The bride’s niece, Ivy Mark, was the flower girl and she wore an ivory satin dress with a sash.
The bridegroom’s friend, Alan Armstrong, was the best man, and ushers were friends Dan Walton, Ben Staley, and Nigel Thompson.
The bride was given away by her brother, Karl Newton. A locket, containing a picture of her late father was tied around the stems of her bouquet, ensuring his presence as she walked down the aisle.
Slipped into her shoe was the gold sovereign previously used at the weddings of her mother and four sisters.
Following the service, the reception and evening party was held in a marquee at Edges Green Farm, featuring music from the Blue Flames band, and DJ Disco Don.
The couple are planning to spend their honeymoon skiing in Aspen, Colorado, over the New Year.
