Marriage

Andrew James Wyatt – Elizabeth Mary Crawford

Hexham bride Elizabeth Mary Crawford was the first to walk down the aisle at Hexham Abbey through the newly-built porch. She married the Abbey’s assistant organist, Andrew James Wyatt, on August 30 in a ceremony conducted by former Rector of Hexham, the Rt. Rev. Graham Usher, Bishop of Dudley.
The couple’s wedding reception then became the first event to be held in the renovated Great Hall which forms part of the new Hexham Abbey visitor centre.
Daughter of the Rev. Kenneth and Mrs Kim Crawford of Darlington, the bride studied beauty therapy and works as a model at Newcastle’s Headline Model Agency.
In her spare time she performs as a classical soprano soloist.
Her dress was an ivory vintage-style floor length gown with a v-neck, long lace illusion sleeves and a court train.
In her hair she wore an ivory lace headpiece embellished with beading and pearls and carried a long bouquet featuring roses and ivy.
The bride’s sister-in-law Natalie Crawford was a bridesmaid alongside friends of the bride Felicity Rogers, Alice Chetwynd, Kate McDonough and Clare Coles.
Clare’s one-year-old daughter Esme Coles was a flower girl along with the bride’s 18-month-old niece, Joscelyn Crawford.
The bridesmaids wore Grecian-style floor length gowns in dusky pink chiffon, while the flower girls wore ivory tutu dresses with dusky pink sashes and rose appliques.
The bridegroom is the son of John and Mandy Wyatt of Watford and attended Aldenham School before studying the organ at Birmingham Conservatoire.
His best friend Richard Cook, who studied alongside him in Birmingham, was best man.
The bride’s brother Alexander Crawford was an usher alongside the bridegroom’s friends Chris Droese, David Foster and Benjamin Scott.
The bride was given away by her father in a ceremony which featured music from assistant organist at Ripon Cathedral, Tim Harper.
The couple spent their honeymoon in Ayr, Scotland.
