GUESTS travelled from Denmark, South Africa, Singapore, Burma, Sweden, France and Majorca for the wedding of Polly Wilson and Tim Willis at St Helen’s Church in Whitley Chapel.
The bride is the daughter of Catherine and David Wilson, of Juniper, and she attended Westfield School and Queen Margaret’s School in York.
Following her studies at Edinburgh University, she became a business development manager. Among her hobbies are horse riding and skiing.
The bridegroom is the son of Julian Willis and Gill Fairweather, of South Africa. He was educated at the University of Natal and served as an army officer in the 9th/12th Royal Lancers for several years.
He is now a security director his favourite past-time is rock climbing.
The bride’s sister Sophie Wilson was bridesmaid and the bridegroom’s niece Lola Willis was flower girl. The bride’s nephew Barnaby Philip and the bridegroom’s nephew George Willis were both pageboys.
Sean Willis, the bridegroom’s brother, was best man, while the bride’s brother Rory Wilson and her brother-in-law Henry Philip were ushers.
The bride was given away by her father, and hymns included Tell Out My Soul, Praise My Soul the King of Heaven and Guide Me O Thou Great Redeemer.
During the signing of the register, soprano Nia Passmore sang Ave Maria, with Andrew Passmore on the organ.
The church was decorated by family friend Barbara Parker and the bride’s mother made the cake, which was decorated by friend Margaret Ogle, of Slaley.
A wedding reception was held in teepees in the grounds of the bride’s parents’ home, and the couple, now living in Denmark, honeymooned in Indonesia.
