FITZGERALD - QUARZI Andrew & Emily

ANDREW Fitzgerald and Emily Quarzi had a New Year’s Eve they will never forget when they saw in the new year as newly-weds after their wedding at Matfen Hall.
The couple both attended Ponteland High School, and have made their home in Throckley.
The bridegroom, the son of Bob and Norma Fitzgerald of Chapel Park, Newcastle, also attended Newcastle College, and works as a vehicle recovery control room manager with CF Motoring Services at Blaydon.
The bride, the daughter of Peter and Kath Quarzi, of Ponteland, is a recruitment consultant with Hays Education in Newcastle.
Given in marriage by her father, she wore an ivory dress with a sweetheart neckline and a fitted lace bodice, with pearl and diamante detail. It was made of layered vintage and modern lace, with a train and full length veil.
Six of her best friends were bridesmaids, four of whom – Kay Armstrong, Sarah Telfer, Fiona Kellett and Elspeth Charlton – she has known since her nursery days. The other two, Rachel Walton and Steph Wood, she has known since they were teenagers.
They all wore full length grey-blue dresses with crystal detail.
The best man was David Evans, the bridegroom’s best friend since they were four-year-old classmates at Darras Hall First School. The bridegroom’s brothers, Richard and Duncan Fitzgerald, were ushers.
The bride entered the venue to Somewhere over the rainbow by Israel, and the couple left to Mark Knopfler’s Local Hero.
The service also included a reading by Joanne Gallgher of On Your Wedding Day from Captain Corelli’s Mandolin.
The couple spent their “mini-moon” at Windermere, but will travel to Italy in the summer for their honeymoon, visiting Venice and the Amalfi Coast.
