BORTHWICK - HALL

Carl Borthwick – Megan Alexandra Hall
KIRKLEY Hall was the venue for the wedding reception of Kirkheaton couple Carl Borthwick and Megan Alexandra Hall on April 25.

The bridegroom, a former pupil at Ponteland High School, is a farm worker and the bride works in the equine industry as well as freelancing as a nanny.

They were married at St Bartholomew’s Church in Kirkheaton, in a service led by thhe Rev. Frances Dower.

The bridegroom is the son of Keith Borthwick, of Ingoe, and Jill Kendall, of Ridsdale. He is a keen rugby player and his interests include shooting and farming.

The bride is the daughter of Kevin and Lynn Hall, of Grimsby, and she studied at Bishop Burton College, in Yorkshire. She too enjoys shooting, as well as horse riding.

She wore an ivory corset dress with a lace top, with detail on the train and side. She carried a bouquet which included white roses and freesia.

The bride’s sister Amy Elizabeth Hall and childhood friend Victoria Birkwood were bridesmaids. They wore ivory dresses with blue sashes, and carried smaller versions of the bride’s bouquet.

Brooke Coles and Poppy Kiddle were flowergirls

Jamie Gilhespy, a childhood friend of the bridegroom, was best man, while Jono Charlton was usher. Charlie Scott, the son of a friend, was page boy.

They arrived at the church with the bridegroom by tractor, kindly supplied by Lloyd Agri.

The bride entered the church with her father to Amazed by Lonestar and walked out to My Best Friend by Queen.

Hymns sung throughout the ceremony included All Things Bright and Beautiful and Sing Hosanna, accompanied by organist James Tait.

The bride borrowed a locket from her grandparents, and the ‘something old’ was a bag of corn which belonged to the bride’s uncle.

The newlyweds honeymooned at Loch Ness.
