NORTH-EAST indie rockers Cohesion are ready to return – and stick around.
After 18 months of hard work behind-the-scenes, the five-piece are touring their second EP, Pleasures of Earth, to northern audiences.
After the success of their debut production, the Sunderland rockers are hoping for more of the same – but they aim to maintain their profile and build on the buzz they have created this time round.
Guitarist Lewis Cooke said: “We have the tour coming up, which is something we have put together ourselves, and that will get the ball rolling again.
“With the first EP, we did a bit of a tour but we hid ourselves away to work on the next one and the buzz died off. We fell off the map almost, so with this EP we want to keep the momentum going.”
Fronted by singer Matthew Watchman, with Lewis and Jonathon Hall on guitar, David Wright on bass guitar and Alex Baker on drums, Cohesion enjoyed great success and played at local and national festivals alongside some big artists, such as Dizzee Rascal, The Cribs, British Sea Power and Maximo Park.
Now they are wanting to replicate that success with the latest four-track offering, which will be launched during the tour opener in the Independent at Sunderland on March 23.
Following that, they will visit Leicester (March 25), Liverpool (March 27), Manchester (March 28) and Leeds (March 31), before returning to the North-East to play at Jumpin’ Jacks, in Newcastle, on April 15.
Lewis said: “We played big festivals in Leicester, so that’s like our second home as we’ve played there a couple of other times, and we’ve got a bit of a fan base there.
“So our gigs at Sunderland and Leicester will definitely be our main ones.
“We’ve never been to Liverpool or Manchester before, so it will be good to go out, take a chance and spread the word.”
