ONE of the world’s most iconic hip hop artists is heading to a village part of the Tyne Valley.
Grandmaster Flash, the genius behind global hits The Message and White Lines, is being flown from The Bronx, in New York, to appear at this year’s Corbridge Festival.
Regarded as one of the founding fathers of hip hop music, the recording artist and DJ, he is also known as one of the most innovative music artists of all time.
The announcement is a further coup for the festival, to be held at Tynedale Rugby Club on July 9, following the news the indie five-piece The Coral will headline the event.
Also confirmed are Mark Morris, the front man of The Bluetones, lead singer of The Specials, Neville Staple, North-East rockers Frankie and the Heartstrings, Bessie and the Zinc Buckets and Too Many T‘s, described at Britain’s answer to the Beastie Boys.
