FANS who have waited three decades for new material from Mythra are in for a treat.
For the five-piece who specialise in ‘New Wave of British Heavy Metal’ have hinted at writing a new album on the back of the success of the Warriors of Time: The Anthology.
Originally planned to put 13 of the band’s best tracks on one CD, the addition of five newly penned songs at the end steal the limelight and show that the band is better than ever before.
The music throughout encompasses the all guns blazing and high octane feel the band strives for, and, with Hexham’s Alex Perry on guitar, they blow the listener away with their full on sound.
It’s somewhat disappointing, however, that the lead vocals from Vince High don’t match the ballsy sound from the musicians, although they do work on the more anthemic songs.
And Mythra do plenty of them to good effect; but be warned that there are some choice words used in an album not suitable for minors!
The greatest example of this comes courtesy of the hell Vicious B******s, and other strong offerings from years gone by are UFO and Death and Destiny.
Of the five new songs, Face in the Mirror stands out with a killer guitar riff and, to be honest, is the highlight of the entire album.
There are also stirring pieces through Reaching Out, You, Faith, Fate, Hate with track number 15, The Best is Yet to Come, perhaps the most appropriate of the new offerings.
