CHARLTON, Charles Edmond. Our Dad, died last month at the grand old age of 95 years. For the last five years of his life he lived at Carntyne Residential Home in Hexham and unfortunately the last four years were spent in a wheelchair, Parkinson's disease had ravaged his body but thankfully not his mind. There is no place like home, but Carntyne became his home and the staff his extended family. There he was shown respect, kindness and love, more than we as his family could ever have hoped for up, to and including his very last day. We want to say a massive thank you to Louise, Pauline, Theresa, Christine, Pauline M, Ann, Dawn, Debra, Janice, Emma, Gillian, Natalie, Val, Catherine, Moira, Audrey, Mary, Karon, Jane, Alyson, Carol and of course Sister Delores and the Sisters of Mercy and all the health care professionals who helped him over these last few difficult years. From Paul, Trevor, Carole and all members of our respective families.
