KIRKER-HEAD Thelma May It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Thelma May Kirker-Head (nee Charman), aged 93 years (November 26, 1927 April 25, 2020) and a resident of the Red Brick House Care Home in Prudhoe, Northumberland. Previously a resident of Howden Dene in Corbridge and before that, for many years, Eads Bush Farm in The Shire, Thelma moved to Northumberland in 1983 from her childhood home of Storrington, West Sussex with her loving husband Jimmy, her mother Ruby, and her Alsatians. A breeder of fine horses and an ardent horsewoman her entire life, she maintained this interest until the end. For Thelma, the Shire was a place of beauty and refuge to be shared with her husband and just a small group of friends - mostly, as she would tell it, 'those of the four-legged variety'. A memorial service will be held at St Helen's Church in Whitley Chapel at a future date. Her son Carl, a resident of Sturbridge, Massachusetts, extends a massive thank you to all of the employees at Red Brick House in Prudhoe who showed Thelma so much caring and fondness, and to the Reverend Andrew Patterson who has so often brought solace and counsel to Thelma and her family in times of need.
