Sign in to add a tributePat was one of those parishioners who knows what being a good parishioner means. I joined the St Beverley parish over two decades ago when my family moved to Bardon Mill. I became a Catholic a few years later thanks to Father Leo. So even though I did not know Pat personally I appreciated the amazing contribution he made to the parish.
I understand he was a key member of the Haltwhistle parish and went regularly to a third church. He led the tributes and send off for Father Leo; he organised those wonderful talks at the Men's club and tried to get me to give a presentation; he also helped raise funds for the new club house at Haltwhistle Golf Club. He was an example of the motto I have inscribed on my school's DofE gold hoodie: Non sibi sed aliis - not for ourselves but for others.
One final message to Pat:
Thank you Pat for all your efforts to make St John of Beverley a vibrant and working parish and I will do my best to learn from your example.
God bless you both.
Best wishes
Charles
