Dear Emma and Richard - I heard about your lovely mother only today from John Bishop and I feel desperately sad about it. I’m so sorry. I also feel bad as I have not been good this year at keeping in touch; I always loved seeing her. She was like a breath of fresh air - endlessly positive, stoic, kind and cheerful. I’ve just come back from being away and I’d made a commitment to myself that I would head out to see her this weekend. I’d ordered a magic magnetic drawing board from Amazon to take to her. It’s sitting on a little table in our hall and when I look at it now it makes me weep - out of frustration that I’ve delayed things and out of sadness that I can never give it to her now. I shall keep it close to me though as it will always remind me of her…. as will all her beautiful cards of course.
Her life hasn’t been easy these last years but I feel she was so happy in her Charlotte Straker cottage with the window open and the sun shining through. She was an amazing, special lady who I truly adored and she had a strong link to my mother, too. You were lucky to have her.
I hope the service was beautiful. I’m sure it will have been. I will do something for her in my own way. My love to you both Vanessa
