John George RITSON

RITSON John George of Hexham peacefully left us on 30th May , 2023. Fondly known as Jack, he was born in Hexham on 13th June, 1935, the eldest son of Mary and George Ritson. After completing his National Service with the Royal Air Force in Egypt, Jack went to work for the G.P.O. In Hexham and Newcastle. He married the love of his life Edna Bee at St. Mary's in August 1958. Jack had many interests in his life. He loved to travel and was always keen to introduce his family to iconic places and events. He enjoyed gardening and all sports. He is best known locally for his love of golf. Jack was a long-time member of Hexham Golf Club, making many lifelong friends through his love of the sport. Amongst the numerous competitions he won, he was perhaps most proud of becoming Club Champion in 1963 and 1976. He was predeceased by his parents and siblings Winnie and Brian and cousin Howard. Jack is survived by his wife Edna (Bee), his daughter Gillian and son Philip (Jennifer), his three grandchildren Alexander, Edward, and Raechel, and brother George (Sylvia). By his request,there will be no public service.
