HAYDON Bridge High School's conversion to academy status has moved a step closer with the appointment of Darren Glover as the school's new principal.
Mr Glover has been installed as part of a new management structure at the school, on a permanent basis.
He is already a familiar face at Haydon Bridge High, having worked at the school as a consultant headteacher since September last year.
Helen McCormick, who has served as acting head for the past two years, has become deputy principal, while Helen Jackson has landed the post of assistant principal.
They will be supported by Regional executive principal, Dr Judith Greene.
The new leadership team has been appointed by the school's interim executive board (IEB).
The IEB was installed in February as part of the Government's plan to rubber stamp Haydon Bridge High School's long awaited academy conversion ahead of the next academic year, in September.
Mr Glover said: "My last eight months at the school have shown the huge potential Haydon Bridge has to offer its students.
"I am now looking forward to taking up official headship and working with my team to drive up educational attainment and help every student realise their potential."
