Mr Opperman will collect gifts and toys for the Salvation Army to distribute to children in the area who would not otherwise receive presents this Christmas.
“For the last five years, the generosity and community spirit of the people of Tynedale and Ponteland has been amazing, with hundreds of new toys and games being donated by residents keen to ensure that some of the poorest children in the region enjoy a happy Christmas,
and hopefully this year will be no different,” said Mr Opperman.
“The kindness of the people of Northumberland never ceases to amaze me and I am hoping that once again this year we can collect as many gifts as possible to distribute to local children.
“From cuddly toys to Lego, from colouring books to footballs, all donations will be gratefully received both by me and the children who will receive them.”
Gifts can be dropped off between now and December 1 at the MP’s constituency offices at 1 Meal Market, Hexham, or at Office 2, Horton Park, Ponteland.
