ONE of Tynedale’s largest employers is set to double its apprentice intake after 10 of its young engineers achieved record results.
The ten, who were all given permanent positions at Essity’s Prudhoe Mill, each achieved a distinction in their final exams at Gateshead College – a record result for the business.
Twenty new apprentice vacancies are now being created at the mill, which produces Velvet and Cushelle toilet tissue as well as own-label products.
Apprentice team leader, Ian Callender, said: “The exam results broke all records, and I’m immensely proud of what my lads achieved. Their success has given the company the confidence to double this year’s apprentice intake.”
