THERE are few things better than tucking into a juicy steak with freshly cooked chips or fries.

Whether it’s an occasional treat, or you’re a committed carnivore, there are plenty of places in Tynedale to get a meaty mouthful.

So whatever way you like your steak, well-done medium-rare or even blue, here are some recommendations, in no particular order, of the best places.

And for Ali Milbum, the Rat at Anick was “without doubt” the best.

Cassia, Corbridge

The Corbridge restaurant has built up a reputation for its Italian dining, but its Sunday lunches and steak dinners have also proved popular.

Claire McDonald also voted for Cassia as the best throughout the district.

Charred Bar & Grill, Hexham

The restaurant, which specialises in steak and lobster, may have only opened within the past month. But the new eatery has quickly built up a strong reputation for fine food.

Sean Irvin praised the “amazing food and great attentive staff.”

Charred also received the vote of David Pickering, Peter Gash and Mark Benjamin.

Red Lion, Newbrough

Trish Law is a fan of the pub and said its steak “can’t be beaten”.
