Tynedale footballer Cedwyn Scott will get a chance to impress for Carlisle United’s reserves this week.

Boss Chris Beech says the Hebburn Town striker will feature in Wednesday’s Central League Cup game against Fleetwood.

Beech said the frontman has done well in his first week’s training at Brunton Park and is now keen to see the ex-Huddersfield and Dundee man in a game.

“He’s done well,” Beech said of the 22-year-old. “He’s trained two or three times and we’ve got a reserve game against Fleetwood on Wednesday - it’ll be a good opportunity to see him play in that against other professional players.”

Tynedale-based Scott played for Hebburn in their 3-2 FA Vase victory over North Shields on Saturday and will now return to Carlisle in his bid to earn a deal back in the full-time game.

“He had three or four years at Huddersfield, and if you’re doing that sort of thing at a young age you’ve got something,” Beech added.

“It’s just dependent on [the question of] will it make us better?

“Location’s important to recruitment now, because of finance. We can’t pay enough money for families to move and things like that. It might be [the case] for different teams but isn’t for us.

“Someone like him, [his location] is a good thing already; and his attitude in the conversations I’ve had with him is very good.

“He seems very down-to-earth and hard-working. I’m hoping to see a good performance on Wednesday.”
