A Tyne Valley-based plant oils business is celebrating the launch of new products.
The Oil Atomisers - Calm, Happy and Protect - contain plant essential oils whose active ingredients have been scientifically proven to have beneficial effects on memory, cognitive function and sleep.
BrainBalms was founded by pharmacognosist Dr Nicolette Perry in 2019. Pharmacognosy is the scientific study of medicinal drugs derived from plants and the BrainBalms ranges are the result of many years of scientific study and testing.
Nicolette said: “There is now so much scientific evidence for the beneficial effects of particular plants and knowledge about how they work, supporting their use in traditional plant medicines through history.
“We knew that by harnessing the bioactive properties of these brain enhancing plants we could create products to help with various aspects of our lives, as part of a move to a healthier lifestyle, and BrainBalms was born.
“We use high quality plant extracts, sourced from the places where the plants grow best around the world.
The BrainBalms first range, the facial oils and pulse-point treatments, proved popular and sold well through its shop at Dilston Physic Garden as well as Matthias Winter in Hexham.
The oil atomisers can be applied with one or two sprays to the wrists, then press wrists together and inhale the aroma in three deep breaths. They can also be applied to pulse points behind the ear, at the base of the neck, on the inside of the elbow and behind the knee, or sprayed on a tissue and inhaled.
Nicolette added: “The new oil atomisers can be applied to skin in the same way as a fragrance. Their bioactive constituents are known to help rapidly calm your mind and body, help elevate your mood or help boost your focus and concentration.”
Five percent of all BrainBalms’ profits also benefit charities. The products can be ordered via the website brainbalms.com.
