A brief update on how we’re doing outside the EU.
The fishermen are complaining that their catch is delayed and rotting on the quaysides; Scots fishermen say they’re losing £1m daily and that Boris Johnson betrayed them.
Thousands of small to medium businesses complain that their exports now attract export fees, ‘deferment fees’ and the ‘disbursement charge’.
Customers are suddenly required to pay VAT and complete customer declaration forms.
British companies including Waterstones, M&S, John Lewis and Sainsbury have stopped deliveries to Europe and Northern Ireland.
And what advice is the British government giving to businesses faced with extra red tape and higher costs?
Believe it or not their advice is to set up new offices inside Europe, thus creating jobs in Europe and cutting jobs in Britain.
So, lets get this clear.
We went to all that trouble to leave the EU and three weeks later we’re trying to get back in!
You don’t know whether to laugh or cry.
