POLICE were called to a Tyne Valley village after a suspected firearm incident.
Shortly after 10.30pm yesterday (Sunday), Northumbria police received a report of a suspicious vehicle in the Woodside Avenue area of Corbridge.
It was reported a man had been seen in possession of a suspected firearm.
A Northumbria Police spokesman said: "Officers attended the area and located the vehicle in question. It transpired that the occupant had been shooting lawfully on private land with the permission of the landowner.
"No criminal offences had been committed but officers would like to thank the caller who made the report in good faith."
Members of the public on social media reported seeing a police helicopter and multiple cars in the area.
