An 11-year-old boy was airlifted to hospital following a crash on the A69.
The incident, which happened near Brampton, involved one car - a Ford Focus - and the child was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with serious injuries.
The driver of the Ford - a woman in her 40’s – and two other passengers were taken to the Cumberland Infirmary in Carlisle with injuries not believed to be life-threatening.
Police said the road was blocked while emergency services, Highways England and recovery vehicles were on the scene.
The road has now fully re-opened.
