A Northumberland pub hosted a selection of supercars at a covid friendly rally.
The Crown Inn at Humshaugh, which is renowned for motoring events throughout the year such as Supercar Sunday and three-wheeler day, welcomed 22 McLarens to the pub. Models of the British marque including the MP412C and 570S which arrived in two separate groups to adhere to Covid restrictions.
Crown Landlord David Harding, who also organises the NE1 Motor Show in Newcastle, said: “When I organise the big shows in Newcastle and Bywell, we get thousands of people.
“However, Humshaugh isn’t really set up for that, so I don’t advertise anything beforehand!
“Everything was safe – we had 12 come first and then ten more later on.
“I think the locals are used to have supercars in the village now. However, people love seeing them so they are still turning out for a look.”
In a Facebook post following the McLaren visit on Friday June 4, the Crown posted that unfortunately, it would not be holding any further Supercar Sundays while the final set of lockdown restrictions are still in place and that this event was in a controlled environment. The Crown does hope to be able to have standing room and cater to larger visitor numbers once restrictions are lifted.
