HEXHAM’S first escape room will be coming to the town soon.
Escape rooms are immersive experiences which see a team of players discover clues and solve puzzles to escape the room in a limited amount of time.
Project Escape Hexham will be on Hallstile Bank.
The ProjectEscapeUK brand already have a premises in Middlesbrough.
Becky Liptrott-Pollard, social media account manager, said: “We were looking for somewhere else in the North East. We found the Hexham space just by chance. When we had a look in the town, we fell in love with it.”
The premises will have four rooms, with three different themes.
There will be two rooms which will have a Sherlock theme, with customers able to race head-to-head.
Another room will have a “spooky experience”, and the final room will be festival themed, and will change at different times of the year.
To begin with, they will only open the Sherlocked escape room.
Becky said whilst they will definitely be open by the end of July, they are hoping it will be before then.
They will be open seven days a week.
Project Escape will be hiring around five to seven people to start with, and are recruiting locally.
Becky said they are planning a scavenger hunt in the town leading up to its opening, with Project Escape posting clues on its social media.
Once people find the clues, it will create a phrase or code, and people will then get a discount on their booking.
Becky added the brand likes to get involved with the local community and link up with charitable organisations.
