Northumbria Police has introduced its newest and cutest recruits in a recent video.
Shared on Instagram ahead of ‘Bring your dog to work day this Friday,’ the video shows a mix of 12 Belgian Malinois and Dutch Herder puppies ‘taking down’ one of their handlers.
Belgian Malinois are similar in looks to Alsatians (German Shepherds) and are known for being protective, confident, friendly and hard-working. It’s not all good news though – they can be quite stubborn too!
Dutch herders (also known as Dutch shepherd) are considered to be obedient, loyal and trainable, making them well suited to police work.

Sergeant Ian Hankin, Dog Handler, said: “This is noble work for any canine and rest assured, as well as helping to catch criminals and protect, the dogs are also given loving and happy homes with their handlers who treat them and look after them as family.”
Unfortunately, some puppies don’t make the grade, but they are rehomed. You can find out more at Northumbria Police’s website. How could say no to these faces?!
