A BRAVE 10-year-old has shaved her hair off to raise money for cancer support.

Eleanor Lee, from Wylam, took part in Macmillan's 'Brave the Shave' on Friday (July 9) when she had her hair cut off at Reflections Hair and Beauty salon in Corbridge.

And so far, she has raised £930 for the charity.

The hair that was cut has been sent to The Little Princess Trust to make wigs for children who have lost their because of cancer treatment.

Eleanor said: "In 2018 I had short hair, since then I had been growing it for a wig for someone with cancer.

"I'm very happy with how much I've raised. My target was £500."

Eleanor's mum Victoria said: "It was entirely her decision.

"She saw the advert and she just said 'I'm going to do it'."

"She really was incredibly brave, smiling throughout and looks as beautiful as ever with her new style."

"I'm so proud of her," Victoria added.

Victoria also said that Reflections Hair and Beauty looked after Eleanor "wonderfully" when they washed, bunched and cut her hair before they did the shave.

They didn't charge for this, Victoria added, and also held a collection for Eleanor's cause.

Eleanor, a pupil at Ovingham Middle School, said she has had a lot of support from her teachers and friends.
