With a heatwave well underway and schools either having recently or set to break up for the summer holidays, we’ve taken a look at some of the best beaches in the county according to TripAdvisor.
The Northumberland coast has regularly been a favorite among both locals and tourists alike, so we’ve rounded up just a few of the most recommended locations to head for this summer.
St Aiden Beach – 5 stars on TripAdvisor
Another popular location on the review site, St Aiden is located near Bamburgh and its world famous castle and would make a great addition to anyone’s summer adventure.
Easily accessible with a nearby carpark also available, the beach has been praised on the site for its stunning views and fine backdrop of the popular castle behind.
Over 500 people have thought highly of the beach on Trip Advisor, proving just how popular the location is to visit in the North East.
Cocklawburn Beach – 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor
Located between Berwick and Lindisfarne National Nature Reserve, the location came out on top in TripAdvisor reviews.
Praised for its top-quality sand also being slightly off the usual coastal route ensuring it isn’t as busy as other beaches in the nearby area, the beach is certainly a must visit for anyone heading to the seaside over the next few weeks.
Alnmouth Beach – 4.5 stars on TripAdvisor
Another location that is accessible from Hexham via car, Alnmouth Beach proved to be another must-see attraction according to Trip Advisor users.
Located near the town itself – which is also easy to get to nearby – the beach appears to be a common spot for dog walkers to take their pooch for a stroll.
If you’re not a fan of numerous amusement arcades, fish and chip shops and busy crowds, perhaps Alnmouth is the place to visit due to its more quiet and relaxed nature.
Warkworth Beach – 5 stars on TripAdvisor
Although also located near Alnmouth, the beach is another location that has been highly praised online.
Singled out for its cleanliness along the beach itself, it also is another area that can benefit from having its own nearby car park.
Due to its location, you’re also able to walk to nearby Amble too, further proving that Northumberland is a fine location for a summer getaway in 2021.
