NEWCASTLE United’s Matty Longstaff has been getting to know Dale - an “inspirational” volunteer in the region.
Longstaff, who became an ambassador for the official charity arm of the club earlier this year, heard about Dale’s story and made arrangements to surprise the young volunteer with a video message.
Commending him for his dedication to enriching the Byker community and young people through more than 300 hours of volunteer work, Longstaff told Dale: “You’re not just an inspiration to me, but to so many others.”
The 21-year-old midfielder added: “I just wanted to say a massive thank you from everyone at Newcastle United for all the hard work you’ve done for the foundation and for the Byker Community Trust too.
“I hope you’re really proud of yourself, Dale. Well done and thank you from all of us.”
