MOTORISTS are being urged to avoid parts of Hexham after a serious collision this morning.
Emergency crews have been dealing with a crash in the Eilansgate Road area of Hexham since shortly after 7am.
Police, firefighters and paramedics are on scene helping those involved in the two car collision.
One driver is trapped in a vehicle, police said.
A spokesman for Northumberland County Council said: "There has been a road traffic collision in the Eilansgate Road area of Hexham this morning. The road will be closed for some time so please pick an alternative route."
Anyone who witnessed the incident is urged to call police on 101.
