Runners return to take part in cross country event in Wrekenton and here are the results.
Runners from both Stocksfield Striders and Allen Valley Striders returned to cross-country action in the North East Harrier League at Wrekenton on Saturday 25th September.
Unfortunately, due to a combination of other race commitments, injuries, and maybe people forgetting what they were missing (as it’s been so long since the last fixture!), neither club were able to field complete teams, but this didn’t dim the enthusiasm of those taking part.
In the Senior Ladies race, Claire Davies was first home for Stocksfield in her first run from the fast pack. She crossed the line in 62nd place (from a field of 399), completing the course in 26:02 – the 8th fastest time overall. Anna Halstead was next across the line for Stocksfield, 55 seconds later, in 91st position, in a time of 31:57, with Claire Collinson clocking a time of 31.35 from the medium pack to cross the line in 162nd position.
For the Senior Men, Steven Lazzari was first finisher for Stocksfield on his NEHL debut, completing the three laps in 50:24 (426th out of 511). Simon Bonell wasn’t far behind in 51:22 (422nd), with Tony Brown coming home in 57:51 running in the MV55 category.
For Allen Valley, Ruth Bentley was the first lady across the line in a time of 29:49, taking 100th position, having maintained her place in the medium pack from last season. Jayne Phillips ran well from the slow pack, competing in the FV60 category to take 280th position.
A Bentley was also first home for Allen Valley in the men’s race, with Tom taking 283rd position in a time of 44:53. Andrew Yarnold also put in a good run to finish 353rd in a time of 47:10.
