PLANS to install toilets at a community church have been given a boost.
Reverend Keith Teasdale and organist Stuart Stokell from St Cuthbert's Church in Greenhead are walking Hadrian's Wall to raise money for the £20,000 new toilets and kitchen fund.
Keith is a retired reverend and Stuart Stokel occasionally plays for church, both are friends of the church.
Elsie Dixon, church warden at St Cuthbert's said: "We have no toilets at all.
"We really need toilets in the church as anyone visiting has to use the village hall ones, which is quite a little walk away.
"It is awful for anyone needing it and we cannot provide it."
The cost of new toilets and kitchen is going to be around £20,000. They have a local architect onboard to see the possibility of where the facilities could be placed.
Elsie said: "We are already £1,000 into our target but the architect has suggested the final quoted us that the final cost could be £20,000 or more, so this is the start of the fundraising of the toilets and kitchen."
The warden of five years also said: "We are very thankful that Stuart and Keith are helping us with the fundraising.
"They have wanted to walk to Hadrian's Wall for years and they decided to help us with our fundraising for new facilities."
"As I said before this is only the start to the fundraising but it is great that we are getting the supported needed for vital things."
