1) 'Big demand' for apartments on swimming pool site

Bosses behind the new housing scheme for Hexham, set to be built on the site of the former swimming pool, have said many interested buyers had come forward.

The development by Willow Homes will see 45 contemporary, new-build apartments built on the Gilesgate site.

2) Hexham hotel named one of the best in Britain

The Sunday Times has revealed its 100 best British hotels, and The Beaumont is featured.

The hotel and restaurant have undergone extensive refurbishment since it was took over by Roger and Magda Davy in 2016.

3) Police investigating stolen plant trailer in Hexham

An investigation has been launched after an alleged theft of a plant trailer.

The incident occurred on October 18 from a garage in Chollerford, Hexham.

4) Plans submitted to transform former shop into apartments

Plans have been submitted to change the use of upper floors of office and retail units into apartments for 28A Fore Street, Hexham.

Four apartments will be created, one to be used as a two-bed and three to be used as one-bed apartments.

5) Lloyds Bank and Halifax branches close two branches in the region

Lloyds Banking Group is to close two branches - Halifax, Consett, and Lloyds, Ponteland, in 2022, blaming declining visits by customers.

It comes after Lloyds Banking Group announced 48 closures nationwide.
